About Jake
Jake VanderZanden is an inspirational leader and operator who brings together extensive experience in corporate and entrepreneurial business environments. His expertise spans strategy, finance, marketing, product development, and manufacturing, making him a valuable asset for organizations of various sizes, both B2B and B2C. As an advocate for entrepreneurism, Jake has taught marketing, innovation, and entrepreneurship at several universities in Oregon, and he is deeply passionate about supporting new entrepreneurs. He is available for consulting to dive deep into an organization’s strategy, serve as an advisor, board member, or in a fractional role, and teach both students and professionals.
Jake's small-town farm background provides a solid foundation for problem-solving, which inspired him to write his e-book, Barnyard Management, published in 2012.
In addition to his consulting work, Jake was most recently the founder and creator of OTTOLOCK, an award-winning lightweight security brand, successfully exiting in late 2025. He has a natural talent for assessing, developing, and commercializing products and brands profitably, evidenced by his extensive track record. Jake excels at simplifying complex challenges and communicates in a relatable manner to inspire teams and stakeholders.

Another one of Jake's passions is the outdoors and cycling. He has raced and trained at a high level for over 35 years, but now primarily rides for health and adventure. This sport requires goal setting and resilience which are both fundamental in business.
